With Claude Melki
Léon, a shy, dreamy tailor in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, works and lives in his flat with his sister, Marie. Marie, Maxime's concubine, officially works there as a fortune-teller, but Léon learns that this is a front for selling her charms, and that Maxime is also her pimp. Marie meets Arlette, a young provincial from Morlaix, who has come to the capital out of desperation, and takes her in. Léon secretly falls in love with her.
