In 2003, stranded in Ouagadougou waiting for a plane, Stephan Zaubitzer began photographing the city's cinemas almost by chance. This was the start of a series that would take him to India, the United States, Egypt and Romania, as well as Brazil, the Czech Republic and a few other countries...
In the course of this world tour of dark cinemas and the brightly-lit streets that house them, he reveals himself to be as fascinated by the interiors, dark bellies with increasingly improbable decorations, as he is by the exteriors, extravagant ships in the middle of the city, architectural exceptions in urban complexes. In 2014, Zaubitzer took his camera to six Moroccan cities (Casablanca, Oujda, Marrakech, Meknès, Tangiers and Tétouan) to take portraits of the Roxy, the Camera, the Alcazar, the Colisée, the Espagnol and the Al Falah...
