At a time when puppet theater is firing on all cylinders, THEMAA and its many partners took advantage of the Saisons de la marionnette (2007/2010), to invite a number of personalities from outside the performing arts (anthropologist, visual artist, philosopher, scientist, etc.) to discover contemporary puppet shows and their creators. The aim was to go beyond circumstantial likes and dislikes, and present their point of view on the puppet arts as they exist today. Attentive travelers, their particular gaze shines with intelligence. They illuminate the facets of an art in revolution around today's man, the art of puppetry. Their texts, presented here, trace the path taken between artist and spectator. These sensitive encounters have made it possible to engage in a debate of ideas and to question the reality of a complex and troubling era in a different way, through artistic work, by questioning the notion of cultural mediators. In the end, these points of view are simple stories, so necessary and so urgent.
