These are not accounts of cinema “memories”, but the living experience of the film as received by the child, at a time when cinema was still a young, “emerging” art. The aim of these texts is not to “tell the story” of the film, but to describe it as the child discovers it, and what it brings to life in him: emotions so profound that the adult who sees the film again experiences them, surprisingly identical, at the same moments. For the adult who writes here does not overlook the child.

Aimé Agnel's many activities in cinema, psychoanalysis and sound include teaching at IDHEC, lecturing at Vincennes University (Cinema Department), sound editing for Fernand Deligny and Jean-Pierre Daniel's Le moindre geste and Sergio Castilla's La Storia, acting in Jean-Marie Straub's L'Aquarium et la Nation... His books include L'Homme au tablier, le jeu des contraires dans les films de Ford et Hitchcock and L'ennui, une psychologie à l'œuvre
