In 2007, Abdellatif Kechiche's La Graine et le Mulet revealed a luminous young actress, Hafsia Herzi, eighteen at the time of filming. The 2008 César for Best New Actress for her performance as Rym was reminiscent of the one awarded to Sandrine Bonnaire in 1984 for what was also her first role, as Suzanne in Maurice Pialat's À nos amours. Two actresses were born into the world of cinema as teenagers, 25 years apart, in front of the cameras of two filmmakers who looked at them like fathers looked at their daughters, turning their films into portraits of their actresses.

Hafsia Herzi and Sandrine Bonnaire tell us what it's like to have reached the age of possibility in cinema.
